Despite the Galaxy S11 continuing to leak, the real excitement surrounds Samsung’s radical new foldable smartphones and now the company has revealed the one it is serious about.
Wowing crowds at the Samsung Developer Conference today, Samsung showed off a successor to the Galaxy Fold which revamps the design so it folds like a flip phone (video below). And how do we know Samsung is serious? Because acclaimed Dutch sleuths GalaxyClub just found the batteries Samsung is developing for it.
Looking at the design itself first, it makes a lot of sense. Unfolded, the form factor matches that of a regular smartphone, but the clamshell fold has the benefit of making it half the size and therefore far more pocketable than a regular device.
The fact it folds with the screen inside also means it should be a lot more durable when dropped. And Samsung showed off some clever usage scenarios, such as opening the phone at 90 degrees so the top half is propped up to show video. More
