After Samsung launched their Samsung Galaxy Fold earlier this month, Huawei has unveiled its first attempt at a folding smartphone at the Mobile World Conference.
The Huawei Mate X is a pretty impressive piece of tech.
Update 19 October 2019: Huawei first unveiled the Mate X at the Mobile World Congress back in February 2019, and we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the phone’s release.
Last we heard, Huawei pushed the device’s September launch to November. Since then, an unboxing video of an alleged Huawei Mate X surfaced on YouTube.
The account isn’t verified, but it sure does look like the same device Richard Yu held up while addressing the MWC attendees. The video hints at a “slight design change”. See for yourself.
Price
The price is yet to be confirmed. However, Huawei stated at the MWC2019 that making foldable phones aren’t cheap. So you better start saving as soon as possible.
Industry experts estimate that the Huawei Mate X will have a price tag of about €2 299 (R36 100).
