Samsung Electronics will relaunch its much-anticipated foldable phone in September after fixing screen defects, which had hurt the brand image of the world’s largest smartphone maker.
The South Korean technology giant said it hopes that the Galaxy Fold Foldable Phone will be a “driving force” for sales growth in a sluggish global smartphone market, as it becomes increasingly difficult to differentiate smartphone designs’ incremental upgrades.
“Samsung has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes we made,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The announcement comes three months after the company cancelled the launch of the world’s first foldable smartphone after some reviewers said their screens had cracked or flickered, or in some cases failed altogether when a protective film was removed. More info
