T-Mobile Drops Plan to Sell Samsung’s Galaxy Fold Foldable Phone

T-Mobile was initially a launch partner for the Galaxy Fold, but it now tells The Verge that it will not carry the phone 'because we already offer customers a wide range of the latest smartphones.'

After months of delays, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is slated to finally arrive in September. But it’ll apparently do so without the support of T-Mobile.

On Thursday, the carrier told The Verge it was bailing on the Galaxy Fold’s upcoming launch. “T-Mobile will not carry the Galaxy Fold Foldable Phone because we already offer customers a wide range of the latest smartphones. Please reach out to Samsung for any further inquiries,” the company reportedly said.

The foldable phone was originally supposed to launch with T-Mobile on April 26. But problems with the product breaking forced Samsung and its partners to postpone the launch.

Neither Samsung nor T-Mobile has commented on why the Galaxy Fold won’t be available from the carrier. But the Korean vendor has yet to specify the markets in which its phone will be sold. In the meantime, T-Mobile recently shut down a company website that was once dedicated to the phone.

Samsung’s other partners for the Galaxy Fold—AT&T and Best Buy—have also remained mum on the product’s upcoming launch. In May and June, both partners were forced to cancel pre-orders for the device.

However, they continue to market the product on their websites. AT&T also previously said it’ll re-open pre-orders once Samsung supplies more information about the release date. More
